Les Allues, Le Raffort, les Cruet, Vanthier, Chandon, Nantgerel, la Gittaz and Plantin. These hamlets were the origins of the resort. They fi¬rst inspired a Scotsman, Peter Lindsay in 1936, looking to develop a site for winter sports and recreation. Today, each of these charming villages is a small gem of traditional alpine architecture. One systematically passes through them before reaching the more recent quarters of Méribel Vallée. These villages are valuable base camps for amateurs of authenticity, calm, culture. Gentle walking and great skiing. The Olympe gondola provides access to the Chaudanne and the largest ski area in the world in just a few minutes. At the end of the day, ride the gondola back down to the village or ski straight back to the peace of your chalet.
Situated at 1100m, Les Allues is the administrative centre of Meribel Valley. With its communal bread oven, old farm buildings and hidden alleys, this traditional Savoyard town is linked to Meribel Centre by the Olympe cable car (500m from the town centre) and the free shuttle bus service which allows you direct access to the pistes.
