Starting in Saint Jean de Maurienne - The Cycloclimbing Challenges

Here you will find the greatest concentration of famous difficult passes in Savoie. Follow in the wheel tracks of the Tour de France and test yourself against the area's highest passes, including the Madeleine, Glandon, Croix de Fer and the "giant" Galibier.

Saint Jean is the ideal base from which to cycle the different climbs to La Toussuire, under the watchful eye of the spectacular Aiguilles d’Arves and the famous “Tête de Chat”. Across the valley, the impressive east face of the Croix des Têtes stands guard over some lovely climbs through the forest. The superb Montvernier hairpins and Col du Chaussy round off the selection.
