Starting in Albertville - The Cycloclimbing Challenges

Albertville is the gateway to no fewer than 18 difficult climbs in the Lauzière and Beaufortain Mountains:

What better way of seeing this beautiful area, renowned for its mountain pastures and herds of peacefully grazing Tarine cows, than cycling the Cormet de Roselend, above its eponymous reservoir, the Col du Joly, Col des Prés or Col des Saisies? In terms of difficulty, few climbs surpass Mont Bisanne, whichever side you cycle it from. The foothills of the Lauzière, at the entrance to the Maurienne, complete the area's collection of steep and exceptionally sinuous roads – no fewer than 39 switchbacks have to be negotiated to reach the Chalet d’Ebaudiaz with its view of Mont Blanc.
