A required stop when hiking the loop to circumnavigate the Vanoise Glaciers, Col de la Vanoise Pass, along the legendary GR55 trail, is also the most visited location in the Vanoise range, and rightly so.
The majestic glaciers grinding their way down from the summit of the Grande Casse with their reflection in the surrounding lakes offer an incredible backdrop.
Marmots, ibex, chamois, ptarmigans, and stoats (short-tailed weasel) inhabit the area.
Hut located on the GR55 trail loop that circumnavigates the Vanoise glaciers.
Hut open and staffed from mid-March to early May, reservation required.
